This is a chart of a friend of mine who has brilliant intelligence. He has photographic memory and when we watch football game (Barcelona the best!) he records every little detail of the game. Afterwards he can remember in which minute, which player passed the ball to some other player, and to which action this pass led. I mean, it is really impressive to see this “in life” and not on You Tube or some other internet or TV Channel. But this photographic memory is not what impresses me only, he has very great rational mind, logic too. When he speaks about what strategy should Pep Guardiola use, you can see how logically and practically this sound, and you would never come up with such ideas.
I was wondering what in his chart can show this capability. Ptolemy advises us to look at Mercury and Moon in order to investigate the two parts of the mind (soul), i.e. the rational part and irrational or sensitive part.
Montulmo later on advises us to calculate a so called Almuten Intelectus out of these two and ascendant.
But I have found something intriguing with his Mercury which is Almuten Dominus of the ascendant.
When I first looked at the chart I said to my self: “How can this retrograde Mercury be significator of such a great ratio?!”.
Mercury is retrograde but in 7 days after the birth this Mercury will make appearance and will turn direct.
Ptolemy says that the planet (in transit) which makes phasis, or appearance is “intensifying events” .
Planet which was retrograde in nativity, and turn direct in 7 days after the birth is a planet which distinguishes it self in nativity, this planet is fortified. Mercury is going out of the Sun’s beams, turns direct and advance toward the Midheaven. Mercury is Almuten Intelectus, so we can see here how great importance this Mercury takes in his life.
Furthermore, this Mercury is in Cancer – one of the most fruitful signs, plus a watery sign with which Moon rules, and we know that Moon is related to memory. Mercury in cardinal signs also gives quick mind, clever mind.
Pars Rationis, part calculated through Mercury and Mars, is in 18 Sagittarius, which is bound of Mercury and in the same sign with Moon which is dispositor of Mercury. Moon and Mercury do not regard each other, but the good thing is that they regard Ascendant. So, Pars Rationis is a pivotal and the ruler Jupiter is regarding it through trigon relationships, which is a good thing. Furthermore, the twelfth part of Juptier is in Sagittarius.
Moon is applying toward the fixed star Ettain (right eye of the dragon), which is of the nature of Saturn and Jupiter.
This star is helpful for mental concentration, analytical and penetrating mind.
I’m sure there are other indicators, I’ve noticed and threw out just a few.
